Private equity executive adds finance and strategy expertise to CRM leader’s executive team

Scottsdale, AZ – February 29, 2024 – Act!, a leading customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation solution for small businesses around the world, today announced the appointment of Andrew Kane as Chief Financial Officer. In his role, Mr. Kane will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s global finance and accounting operations.

Prior to joining Act! Mr. Kane spent over a decade at SFW Capital Partners investing in and advising software, information, and other technology companies. Mr. Kane was responsible for leading the evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities, as well as supporting SFW’s existing investments, including Act!, Greenshades Software, Captify Technologies, Devada, GLG, Essen Bioscience, MD Buyline, among others. Mr. Kane previously served on the Boards of Act!, Greenshades Software, and Devada, and currently serves on the Board of Captify Technologies.

Prior to joining SFW, Mr. Kane worked at Gotham Consulting Partners, a management consulting firm specializing in private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Mr. Kane earned a B.S. in Operations Research and Information Engineering from Cornell University.

Act! expands its global footprint of data servers to include Canada

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 3, 2023 – Act!, a leading customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation solution for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced that it has expanded its global footprint of data servers to include Canada. This development will enable Canadian users of Act! Premium Cloud (APC) to comply with industry-specific data residency regulations. Act! maintains APC servers in the USA, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia. Adding Canada, their third largest market, has been a priority since the start of the year.

Software expert joins executive team to drive strategy and lead product management team

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 26, 2023 – Act!, a leading customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation solution for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced that it has appointed Patrick Curley as Chief Product Officer. Curley will oversee the creation and execution of all product-related activities at Act! and realize the company’s vision of holistic CRM. This news comes on the heels of the recent appointment of Bruce Reading as Act!’s CEO.

As a software leader with over 20 years of high-tech industry experience, Curley has proven his extensive knowledge of product development and business strategy. Before joining Act!, Patrick was CPO of Perceptive Automata, a provider of human behavior prediction technology for autonomous machines where he led the development of solutions involving high-risk human/autonomous machine interaction. Prior to that, he was CPO at DaySmart, a leading provider of SaaS business management solutions. There, he oversaw the development of products serving multiple SMB vertical markets. During his tenure, DaySmart tripled its revenue, resulting in DaySmart’s acquisition by LLR and Parthenon Capital in 2019. Patrick was also VP of Engineering at Sonian, a SaaS information archival company acquired by Barracuda Networks in 2017 and focused on securely managing intellectual property.

Serial entrepreneur brings years of tech industry experience to Act!’s leadership team

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 16, 2023 – Act!, a leading customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation solution for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced the appointment of Bruce Reading as its chief executive officer (CEO). He brings many years of experience leading innovative technology companies and guiding executive teams to achieve their full potential professionally and personally.

Previously, Reading was the CEO of Perceptive Automata – a provider of human behavior prediction software for machines – where he led the team to enable ‘theory of mind’ in robotic environments. Prior to that, he was CEO & Chairman of Pica9, a marketing software firm, and President & CEO of Volt Active Data, a data platform designed to support telco applications in the age of 5G.

A native Canadian, Reading has spent his career creating value around emerging technologies and helping companies realize their potential. He is an active seed investor and mentor to early-stage companies and founders. His unique blend of strategic perspective and disciplined tactical execution is suited to environments where uncertainty is the rule rather than the exception.
